Section 16
Nomination of Candidates

(1) According to section 12, a person who is not disqualified can be nominated as a candidate in the election.
(2) When nominating a candidate according to sub-section (1), there should be five proposers and five supporters whose names are included in the voter list according to sub-section (3) of section 3.
(3) In case a person is offered according to sub-sections (1) and (2), he must stamp his approval in writing on the nomination paper.
(4) A person can be nominated for election by a maximum of two nomination papers.
(5) When nominating a candidate for the post of Vice President in accordance with this section, a person of a different gender or community than the person elected to the post of President shall be nominated. Explanation: For the purpose of this section, "Community" means Dalit, Tribal Tribe, Khas Arya, Madhesi, Tharu or Muslim community.
(6) If there is an election for the post of President when the Vice President elected in accordance with this Act is in office, when nominating a candidate for that post, a person of a gender or community different from the gender or community of the person holding the post of Vice President shall be nominated.
