Section 29
Provisions related to price of medicine, prescription, pharmacy and free medicine
: (1) Doctors and health workers should write the generic name when prescribing medicine.
(2) Regardless of what is written in sub-section (1), in the case of quality indigenous products, action shall be taken in accordance with sub-section (1) within two years from the date of commencement of this section.
(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), in the case of patent and new medicines, prescribing by brand name shall not be a hindrance.
(4) Every government hospital should operate its own pharmacy and ensure regular availability of medicines at reasonable prices.
(5) Pricing of medicines shall be as prescribed by the Government of Nepal.
(6) Every health institution and service provider should follow the standard treatment method by promoting and promoting the proper use of medicines.
(7) The medicine seller shall make necessary arrangements for storage and sale and distribution of the medicine in such a way that the prescribed quality is maintained.
(8) A medicine seller shall not sell or distribute any medicine without a doctor's recommendation.
(9) Other provisions related to medicine shall be in accordance with the prevailing law.
