(1) Officers who are potential candidates for promotion and who have completed the following service period in the official position, from Sahasenani to Assistant Rathi, in the event that a position above one level is vacant, the officer according to Rule 14 may be promoted acting as per the requirement according to the recommendation of the promotion committee:- Position to be promoted               Authorized service period > (a) Above twenty years
(b) Assistant Rathi Nineteen years
(c) Mahasenani Sixteen years
(d) Chief Soldier Twelve years
(e) Soldier Six years
(2) Priority will be given to seniority when promoted in accordance with sub-rule (1).
(3) According to sub-rule (1), the officer who has been promoted as an acting officer shall be allowed to mark the salary and allowances of the post in which he is acting. (4) The officer who is promoted to acting will not get salary increase (grade) throughout the acting period.
