Rule 19
Compensation<br>
(1) If the distributor or the distributor's employee has acted against the interest of the customer or the consumer, if any kind of loss or damage has been caused to the customer or the consumer, the respective customer or the consumer may claim compensation in accordance with Section 4 of the Act.
(2) In accordance with sub-rule (1), a committee consisting of a representative of the Ministry of Water Resources and a representative of the distributor will be formed in each district for the purpose of selecting and determining the compensation score in relation to the compensation claimed by the customer or consumer for the damage caused.
(3) If the committee as per sub-rule (2) finds that the customer or consumer has actually been harmed while making the selection in accordance with the sub-rule, it will make a decision to compensate the distributor up to one lakh rupees and that decision will be final.
(4) According to sub-rule (3), the distributor shall provide the compensation within three months from the date of the decision to provide compensation by the committee.
