Rule 11
Food samples to be sent
(1) When the food inspector or the hearing officer or the court hearing the appeal sends the sample for analytical testing, it should be sent as follows:-
(a) The food sample should be attached with the form prescribed in Schedule-4 and should be stamped and sent securely,
(b) The name of the sample item, the quantity or the reference number of the collection, if any, must be clearly marked on the container or bag in which the food sample is kept and also on the outer cover where it is folded. (c) A copy of the form as per Clause (a) and a sample of the print on the cover of the specimen container should be sent separately (in an envelope).
(d) The vessel in which such a sample is kept should be sealed in such a way that it does not open or leak, and the vessel should be wrapped in thick paper with other wrapping material, tied with a thread or rope, and printed in at least four different places in such a way that the letters can be clearly understood. It should not be possible to open such a vessel.
(2) The head of the food technology and quality control department or the public analyst or a person authorized by him shall open the cover of the sample after checking whether the seal on the cover of the sample of food received according to sub-rule (1) is correct and keeping a record of such condition.
(3) Sample analysis of the food obtained according to sub-rule (1) should be done and the result should be sent to the food inspector or related officer or the court in the form specified in schedule-5.
