(1) If there is reason to believe that an offense punishable under this Act has been committed in a place, the customs officer may search such place.

(2) Sub-section (1) ) when conducting a search, the customs officer shall conduct a search only after giving notice to the owner of the location where the search is to be conducted or to the person immediately using the location before entering the location.

(3) Search according to subsection (2). (4) A person has committed or is about to commit an offense punishable under this Act and if he is not arrested, there is a possibility that he will abscond. If necessary, the excise officer may arrest him.

(5) In case of search, seizure or arrest according to this section, the excise officer shall have the same rights as the police according to the prevailing law.

(6) According to this section, the excise officer may Search, seizure or arrest shall be done under the authority of the local representative.

(7) Other provisions to be adopted by the customs officer during search, seizure or arrest in accordance with this section shall be as prescribed.
