Rule 72
Arrangements for festival expenses

(1) A military person will receive an amount equal to one month's salary for the festivals celebrated according to his religion, culture and tradition every year as festival expenses. Such amount can be paid once in a financial year by a soldier on the occasion of the main festival celebrated according to his religion, culture and tradition.
(2) The festival expenses as per sub-rule (1) shall be received every year fifteen days before the main festival for which the expenses are to be incurred. In this way, even if the festival expenses have not been paid in the month before the festival, the previous month's salary will also be paid in writing.
(3) Soldiers who have taken unpaid study leave will not be entitled to festival expenses during the period of the leave.
(4) Soldiers who are serving in the Nepali Army at the time of commencement of this rule shall report to the relevant office within three months from the date of commencement of this rule and the date of appearance of the military personnel who will be appointed after the commencement of this rule. Information should be given in writing. After submitting such a request, the soldier will not be allowed to claim expenses for another festival throughout his service period.
(5) An amount equal to one month's pension will be given as festival expenses to the military personnel who have retired from the Nepali Army in order to receive pension.
