Rule 4
Investigation procedure

(1) As soon as an application or information is registered or received in relation to the crime mentioned in Schedule-1 of the Act, the relevant police office shall appoint an investigating police officer for the investigation of that crime and inform the Taluk Office and the Public Prosecutor's Office. .
(2) According to sub-rule (1), the police officer assigned to investigate the case may be given necessary instructions by the relevant or any higher ranking police officer of the Taluk Police Office after studying the missile. In view of the nature and seriousness of the crime, a separate investigation team can also be formed as needed to assist the police personnel conducting such investigation.
(3) When a police officer goes to collect information about a crime or a crime has occurred or is about to happen, or if he sees such a crime in his presence, he shall immediately arrest the accused and, in the event that the accused is not arrested, find the property of the accused and any other evidence related to the crime. If there are any persons who saw the crime taking place at the scene of the crime, including those goods, they should take possession of them and raise a vertical bond as necessary and keep such place as it is until such investigation is completed. If any thing or thing that is taken is of a type that cannot be immediately taken into custody or possession, the concerned police officer can request the local village development committee or the municipality to keep such thing or thing safe and if such a request is made, the related village development committee or the municipality can also take such goods or things. (4) According to sub-rule (3), the police personnel who go to collect information should report the incident to the relevant police office as soon as possible and upon receipt of the information, such office shall also take action as per Schedule-3. By registering such information in the crime registration bookA police officer should be appointed to investigate.
(5) According to sub-rules (1) and (4), the police personnel assigned to investigate should reach the scene of the incident as soon as possible.
(6) The police personnel conducting the investigation in accordance with this rule shall document the facts of what they saw, heard and understood with the persons who saw or knew of the incident related to such case as soon as possible in the format as per schedule-4.
