Section 17
Power of Council to order removal and re-registration

(1) The Council may order the removal of the name of a registered medical practitioner from the register in the following cases:-

(a) Criminal conviction of moral turpitude. On being convicted by the court on charges, or (b) on being found guilty of any misconduct related to the profession by a majority of two-thirds of the members of the Council. (2) Name from the register under subsection (1). If the removed person applies to the council for re-registration of his name in the registration book after showing the reasons for the removal, the registrar may instruct the registrar to register his name in the registration book after completing the procedure specified in the rules of the council. A certificate should be given to that effect. However, if the name is removed from the registration book in accordance with this Act, his name shall not be registered again in accordance with this sub-section unless a period of at least two years has elapsed.
