Certificate of registration provided in accordance with section 6 shall be proof that a personal incident has taken place and such proof may be submitted to any office and court and used in personal transactions. But if it is proved that a person has obtained a registration certificate by filing false information, such registration certificate will be cancelled. 9A. The registered age, name and caste can be corrected free of charge: (1) If the age, name or caste of a child born after the implementation of this Act needs to be corrected once registered in accordance with this Act and a certificate of registration has been issued, the concerned person shall do so within 6 months from the date of issuance of the certificate of registration. An application can be made in the prescribed format at the office of the local registrar. (2) Upon receipt of the application given under sub-section (1), the local registrar may correct the age, name or caste in the registration book and the certificate of registration free of charge. (3) The age, name or caste of any person in the registration book and in the certificate of registration provided under this Act cannot be corrected in accordance with any other prevailing law except in accordance with this section.
