Rule 19
Providing election symbols to parties and candidates

(1) When the Commission provides election symbols to a party for an election to be held under the proportional election system, it shall provide the election symbol determined to such a party in accordance with Rule 18.
(2) The election officer shall provide the candidate of the party in the election held under the first-come, first-served election system with the election symbol determined for such party in accordance with Rule 18.
(3) The election officer shall provide the election symbol to the independent candidate from the group determined by the Commission as per rule 18 for independent candidates.
(4) According to sub-rule (3), when the election officer provides the election symbol, such candidate should be asked to choose the election symbol and should be given to the candidate or his representative. However, the fact that the candidate or his representative is not present during the awarding of election marks shall not be deemed to have hindered the act of awarding election marks in accordance with this rule.
(5) According to sub-rule (4), if more than one candidate chooses the same election symbol, the election symbol shall be given priority based on the Nepali alphabetical order of the names of such candidates.
(6) The Election Officer shall publish the notice of providing election symbols in accordance with this rule in his office and send a copy of the notice to the Commission immediately.
