In order to be a candidate in the election held under the election system where the candidate is elected first, ten thousand rupees must be deposited in the office of the relevant election officer and in the election held under the proportional election system, the party submitting the closed list of candidates must deposit fifty thousand rupees before the commission.
(2) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (1), in the case of women and Dalit or minority communities or economically disadvantaged candidates, the bond amount shall be discounted by fifty percent towards the first-come, first-served electoral system. Explanation: For the purposes of this sub-section, "economically disadvantaged person" means a person whose annual family income is less than fifty thousand rupees as recommended by the concerned local level.
(3) In cases where more than one nomination paper is filed on behalf of the same candidate in the election held under the first-come, first-served election system, only one nomination bond shall be kept.
(4) When depositing the deposit according to sub-section (1), the candidate or the party can file in cash or submit the receipt of the cash deposit to the bank.
