In this Act, unless the context or the context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Court" means the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court as per clause (1) of Article 137 of the Constitution.
(b) "Commission" means the Election Commission under Article 245 of the Constitution.
(c) "Candidate" means a person who has been nominated to be a member of the House of Representatives in accordance with Section 18 and the term also refers to a person whose name is included in the closed list of candidates in accordance with Section 28.
(d) "Closed List of Candidates" shall mean the closed list submitted by the party to the Commission in accordance with Section 28 for the purpose of nomination in the elections held under the proportional election system.
(e) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" shall mean prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act or in the order issued by the Commission under Section 76.
(f) "Party" shall mean a political party registered with the Commission for the purpose of elections and the term also refers to a group of parties participating in elections jointly by taking a single election symbol.
(g) "Election" shall mean the election of the members of the House of Representatives held in accordance with this Act and the term also refers to the by-election held in the event that the position of the member elected by the election under the first-come, first-served election system becomes vacant.
(h) "Electoral Officer" means the Chief Electoral Officer and the Electoral Officer appointed by the Commission in accordance with Section 8 and the term also refers to the Assistant Electoral Officer.
(i) "Constituency" shall mean the constituency determined by the Constituency Determination Commission in accordance with the federal law for elections held under the first-past-the-post electoral system.
(j) "Election representative" means the election representative appointed under section 63.
(k) "first-come, first-served election system" means the election system as per section 4.
(l) “backward areas” means Achham, Kalikot, Jajarkot, Jumla, Dolpa, Bajhang, Bajura,Mugu and Humla districts should be mentioned.
(d) "Representative House" means the House of Representatives formed in accordance with Article 84 of the Constitution.
(l) "Voter" means a person whose name is included in the last voter roll according to federal law.
(n) "Ballot" shall mean a ballot paper arranged for voting in an election and the term shall also refer to a ballot paper used in such electronic equipment or a digital ballot attached to such equipment in case voting is done by electronic equipment.
(s) "Ballot box" shall mean the ballot box arranged by the Commission for keeping the ballot paper marked with the vote and the word also refers to the electronic device that records the vote signal of the vote cast in the case of voting by electronic equipment.
(h) "Polling Officer" shall mean a polling officer appointed under section 11 and the term also refers to an Assistant Polling Officer.
(d) "Member" means a member of the House of Representatives (d) "Proportional election system" means the election system as per section 5.
(N) "Constitution" means the Constitution of Nepal.
