(1) In order to be a candidate in the local level election, the following amount must be deposited:-
(a) Five hundred rupees for a ward member,
(b) One thousand rupees for ward president,
(c) One thousand five hundred rupees for the president, vice president, chief and deputy chief.
(2) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (1), there shall be fifty percent relaxation in case of women and Dalit or minority community or economically disadvantaged candidates. Explanation: For the purposes of this sub-section, "economically disadvantaged person" means a person whose annual family income is less than fifty thousand rupees as recommended by the concerned local level.
