(1) A passport holder who has been issued one passport shall not be issued another passport during the period of validity of the passport in his name.

However, a new passport may be issued in the following cases:-

(a) if the holder of a diplomatic or special passport applies for an ordinary passport in addition to such passport,

(b) If the holder of an ordinary passport applies for a diplomatic or special passport,

(c) If the passport is old and illegible or torn, p>

(d) If all the pages of the passport have been used,

(e) The period of validity of the passport remains. If the passport is lost, after one week from the date of publication of the public notice through any daily newspaper of Nepal, an application is received with the police report issued by the local police office confirming the loss of the passport and a copy of the notice published in the daily newspaper. /p>

But in case of lost passport abroad, please attach police report, copy of lost passport, original and certified copy of citizenship certificate, original and certified copy of citizenship certificate to the nearest Nepalese mission. An application can be submitted along with the prescribed fee.

(f) If the period of validity of the ordinary passport expires or if there is an application to get a new passport by submitting a handwritten passport,

(f1) If the passport prepared by the department is lost without delivery to the concerned person,

(g) Sub-rule of rule 15 ( 1) If the travel permit obtained on the basis of Clause (a) and the temporary passport obtained in accordance with Rule 16 are submitted. .

(3) A fee as per schedule-4 will be charged when a new passport is issued under the conditions as per clause (e) of sub-rule (1).
