(1) If a candidate wishes to withdraw his name from the list of candidates, he may withdraw his name by giving a written notice to the election officer within the time specified in sub-section (2) of section 6.
(2) In accordance with sub-section (1), the candidate himself or his representative shall file the notice of withdrawal of name.
(3) After the notice of withdrawal of name as per subsection (1) has been filed with the Election Officer, such notice cannot be canceled or withdrawn.
(4) If the Election Officer is convinced of the truth of the information filed under sub-section (1) or (2), the name of such candidate shall be removed from the list of candidates. The Election Officer shall immediately publish the notice that the name has been removed in his office.
