(1) In each district, the commission shall appoint one chief election officer and one election officer as required to carry out the work to be done in the election in accordance with the constitution, this act and the prevailing federal law.
(2) The Commission shall appoint the District Judge as the Chief Electoral Officer in consultation with the Judicial Council and the Gazetted Officer of the Judicial Service in consultation with the Judicial Service Commission as the Electoral Officer. However, if it is not possible to appoint only the gazetted officer of the judicial service while appointing the election officer, then the gazetted officer of other services within the civil service can also be appointed.
