Rule 14
Election symbols
(1) When the Election Officer provides the election symbol to the candidate of the party as per sub-section (6) of Section 26 of the Act, he shall provide the election symbol of such party.
(2) When the election officer provides the election symbol to the candidate of the party or the independent candidate who has not received the election symbol according to sub-rule (1), the election symbol must be provided from the group of election symbols determined by the commission to be used by the candidates standing independently.
(3) When the election officer provides the election symbol according to sub-rule (2), he shall make the candidate choose the election symbol and provide the election symbol to the candidate or his representative. However, if no candidate or his representative is present at the time of giving the election symbol, the election officer will provide the election symbol from the remaining election symbol of the present candidate or his representative.
(4) According to sub-rule (3), if more than one candidate chooses the same election symbol, the election symbol shall be provided based on the alphabetical order of the name of such candidate.
(5) The Election Officer shall publish the information in his office in accordance with Schedule-10 regarding the provision of election symbols in accordance with this rule and send the same information to the Commission immediately.
