(1) During the issuance of identity card, the national identity number will be provided by the Director General so that the person eligible to receive the identity card will not be duplicated.
(2) Even if the person receiving the ID number dies or the ID card of such a person is canceled or no longer maintained due to any reason, the ID number as per sub-section (1) shall remain intact.
(3) When registering the birth of a child of a Nepali citizen living in a district where the identity card is in force according to section 3, the local registrar shall obtain the identity number as prescribed by the department and provide such identity number to the concerned person.
(4) According to sub-section (3) the biological details of the concerned person shall not be required to provide the identification number.
(5) Regardless of what is written in sub-section (4), in the case where a minor is to be provided with a national identity card, the prescribed personal and biological details shall also be provided. However, a person who has received a minor national identity card will have to provide the biological details again when receiving the national identity card according to this act.
(6) Other arrangements regarding identification number shall be as prescribed.
