Section 7
To apply for an identity card

(1) A person who resides in a district where an identity card is enforced in accordance with section 3 and who has reached the age of sixteen at the time the identity card comes into effect, within two years from the date the identity card comes into effect in that district, and a person who reaches the age of sixteen after the identity card comes into effect within two years from the date the identity card comes of age, to obtain an identity card An application should be submitted to the officer.
(2) According to sub-section (1), if the person making the application has received an identity number, such identity number and if he has not received the identity number, the same shall be disclosed.
(3) After receiving the application according to sub-section (1), the local authority shall take the prescribed personal and biological details such as electronic (digital) picture, electronic impression of ten fingers of both hands, pupil of the eye (iris), signature, etc. But while collecting biological details, in case of a person without any or all fingers, the biological details will be taken as far as is possible for the condition of the person.
(4) A person who does not submit an application for an identity card within the period specified in sub-section (1), if he requests an identity card after that period and submits an application, such person shall also submit the prescribed late fee.
(5) The format of the application to be given in accordance with this section and the details of the documents to be submitted with the application shall be as prescribed.
(6) Arrangements will be made to provide the application in electronic format as specified in this section.
