Section 10
Recognition and Use of Identity Cards

(1) Regardless of what is written in the prevailing law, after the introduction of the identity card, the identity card must be presented to receive any service facility provided by the Nepal government-owned agencies, organizations and private sector or when requesting such service facility. However, if his details can be viewed based on his ID number, even if he does not have an ID card, he can get such a facility based on his ID number.
(2) The identity card will be recognized as the main basis for obtaining public services and as a proof of identity of the person.
(3) If the government or private organization has issued an identity card for providing any service or there is a provision that an identity card is required for that, the identity number or identity card according to this Act may be used instead of such identity card.
(4) For the purpose of using the identity number or identity card according to sub-section (3), the government and private organizations may create the necessary infrastructure and provide access to the details collected in accordance with this Act to such organizations by taking the prescribed fee.
(5) After the information contained in the identity card or certificate issued for any purpose in accordance with the prevailing law has been included in the National Identity Management Information System in accordance with this Act, the Government of Nepal may make necessary arrangements by publishing a notice in the Nepal Gazette so that the work of such identity card or certificate can be done through the national identity card.
(6) Other arrangements regarding the recognition and use of identity cards shall be as prescribed.
