In this Act, unless the subject or context requires otherwise,-
(a) "Social welfare work" means social work to provide services for the weak, helpless and disabled people of the society and to empower the backward sections of the society economically and socially.
(b) "Social service" means social welfare work done individually or collectively without profit motive.
(c) "Social Association Organization" means a non-governmental social association organization established in accordance with prevailing laws for social welfare work and engaged in social service.
(d) "Council" means the Social Welfare Council to be established as per section 5.
(e) "Chairman" means the Chairman of the Council.
(f) "Member" shall mean a member of the Council and the term shall also refer to the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer and Member-Secretary of the Council.
(g) "Bylaws" means the Bylaws of the Association.
(h) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
