2.1 Unless the subject or context requires otherwise, in this Act – 2.1.1 “Seed” means an embryonic plant (embryonic plant) a mature ovule (matured ovule) containing food and a protective covering or a sexual or Seed or seed that can be used for sowing or planting to produce crops by vegetative reproduction means seed or seed. 2.1.2 “Crop” means food, vegetables, fruits, pulses, oilseeds, cash crops or grass crops and the term also refers to ornamental crops whether flowering or not. 2.1.3 "Agriculture" means . It includes the production, collection, storage and processing of crops. 2.1.4 "Committee" means the National Seed Committee constituted under Section 3. 2.1.5 "Laboratory" means a seed testing laboratory established as per clause 9. 2.1.6 “Notified Seed” means a seed notified or registered in accordance with section 11. 2.1.7 "Container" means a box, tin can, vial, bag, sack, bucket, barrel or other similar container used to store seeds. 2.1.8 "Breeder" means a person, organization or agency that first breeds or selectively uses a variety of crops. 2.1.9 "Variety" means all species and subspecies of a plant known or known by the same name. 2.1.10 "Variety" means a group of plants that have the same genetic traits that are in the lowest category in botanical classification, differ from other groups by at least one trait, and have traits that do not change during reproduction (propagation). 2.1.11 "Inscription" means the description (label) about the seeds placed visibly on the container or written. 2.1.12 "Prescribed" or as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.

2:1.13 "Ministry" means the Ministry dealing with matters related to agriculture. 2.1.14 “Provincial Ministry” means the ministry of the state government that deals with agricultural matters. 2.1.15 “Centre” means the Seed Quality Control Centre. 2.1.16 “State Committee” means Section 6A. It should be referred to as the Provincial Seed Seed Management Committee. 2.1.17 "Local level" shall mean municipality or rural municipality. 2.1.18 "Organization" means an organization established in accordance with the prevailing law to carry out work related to seeds and the term also refers to cooperative organizations related to agriculture.
