In this Act unless the subject or the context otherwise requires:
(a) "Court" shall mean the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal and the District Court and the term shall also include any other authority or body which conducts judicial proceedings.
(b) "Order" means an order issued by a court and the term also refers to a decision or judgment of a court.
(c) "Offence" shall mean an offense punishable by imprisonment of at least one year or a fine of fifty thousand rupees according to the law, and the term also refers to an offense punishable by imprisonment of at least one year or a fine of fifty thousand rupees according to the law of a foreign state.
(d) "Central Officer" shall mean the body or officer as per section 6.
(e) "Judicial action" means the action from the scope of the case to the execution of the judgment and that term also refers to the investigation or investigation to be done in relation to any offense.
(f) "Judicial document" means a petition, claim letter, application or appeal registered in the court and the term also refers to the order issued by the court.
(g) "Mutual legal assistance" means the activities related to the matters mentioned in Section 5.
(h) "Term" means a notice, summons or summons issued in the name of a person in the course of a case.
(i) "Foreign State" means a foreign State requesting mutual legal assistance from Nepal.
