Rule 2
Definition
In these Regulations, unless the context or the context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Genetically Modified Organism" means any plant or plant product in which the genes of one species have been replaced by recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) technology in another species and the term includes any plant product produced from such plant product; It also refers to byproducts.
(b) "Act" means the Plant Protection Act, 2064.
(c) "Head of Office" means the head of the office established under section 33 of the Act.
(d) "Living Modified Organism" means a plant whose genetic properties have been modified by combining genetic material with the use of modern biological technology or a plant product that can be reproduced.
(e) "Transgenic material" means plants and organisms that have been researched in laboratories, glasshouses and farms without affecting humans and the environment by using recombinant deoxyrivo nucleic acid technology.
(f) "Laboratory" means a laboratory specified by the Government of Nepal by publishing a notice in the Nepal Gazette.
(g) "Post Entry Quarantine" means the health test of transplanted seeds, seeds or live plants for a specific period of time in a house made of glass, screen or plastic, in a separate nursery or farm with similar facilities.
(h) "Pest free production site" means a site that has been scientifically proven to be free of any specific type of pest and that condition has been officially maintained for a certain period of time.
(i) "Enemy free area" means an area where it has been scientifically proven that no particular type of enemy is present and such a condition has been officially maintained.
