Section 2
Definition
: In this Act, unless the subject or the context otherwise requires,
(a) "Electricity" means electric power produced by water, mineral oil, coal, gas, solar power, wind power, nuclear power or any other means.
(b) "Distributor" means electricity sales distributor as per section 3.
(c) "Customer" shall mean a person or organization whose name is registered in the list of consumers of electricity service sold and distributed by the distributor, and in the case of any organization or office, the head of that organization or office and the registered customer of such registered customer as per the prevailing law shall be deemed to have died. It also refers to the one who has the right to eat.
(d) "Consumer" means a person or organization who consumes the electricity service sold and distributed by the distributor.
(e) "House" or "Building" means a residential or non-residential house or building and the term refers to a house, building or tower containing an institution, office, shop, godown, factory, etc. and also the compound of that house, building or tower.
(f) "Offence" means the offense related to electricity theft as per section 7.
(g) "Offender" shall mean a person who is involved in an offense related to electricity theft as per section 7 and the term also refers to an employee of the distributor involved in the said offence.
(h) "Energy meter" means the energy meter installed by the distributor in the customer's house or building to calculate the unit of electricity consumed by the consumer and also includes other related equipment.
(i) "Organization" means an organization established in accordance with prevailing laws.
(j) "Investigating Officer" shall mean the investigating officer appointed as per sub-section (1) of section 12.
(k) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
