In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Immigration" shall mean the process of entry, presence and departure of foreigners within Nepal.
(b) "Foreigner" means any person who is not a citizen of Nepal immediately.
(c) "Passport" shall mean a passport, travel document or similar permit issued by the government of a country for travel abroad and the term shall also include a passport issued by the United Nations.
(d) “Visa” means a foreigner to enter Nepal …………. The permission letter given by Sri Nepal Government for entry and presence should be mentioned.
(e) "Department" means the Immigration Department established by the Government of Nepal to regulate the entry, presence and departure of foreigners and the arrival and departure of Nepali citizens within Nepal.
(f) “Office” means the Immigration Office under the Department (g) "Director General" means the Head of the Department.
(h) "Immigration Officer" means the officer working in the department and office and the term also refers to the head of the office.
(i) "Hiking" means an overnight walking tour by a foreigner and the term also refers to a walking tour to the base camp by a foreigner who is going to climb a snow peak.
(j) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in this Act or the rules made under this Act.
