Unless the subject or context requires otherwise, in this Act,-

(a) “Council” shall mean the Nepal Medical Council established under section 3.

(A1 ) “Chairman” shall mean the Chairman of the Council.

(A2) “Member” shall mean a member of the Council and that word shall also mean the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman.

(b) “Hospital” shall mean An organization that provides health services for the treatment, prevention, diagnosis and rehabilitation of diseases organized by the government of Nepal or non-governmental level should be considered and the term also refers to a recognized institution established for the purpose of teaching and training at the minimum bachelor's level in medicine. p>

(c) “Modern medicine” shall mean medicine of allopathic system.

(d1) "Specialist doctor" means a doctor who has received a master's degree, diploma from a recognized educational institution in the relevant field and has received specialist training in the prescribed field.

( d2) "Medical College" means the establishment act for the purpose of imparting complete undergraduate or postgraduate studies or post-graduate training in modern medical science:-

1. Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 31, 32 and 33 of the Act shall come into effect from 2022.5.28 and published in the Nepal Gazette dated 2022.5.28.< /p>

2. Notice published in the Nepal Gazette dated 2023.12.7 that all the remaining sections except section 26 of the Act will be enforced from 2023.12.7. shall mean the educational institutions established and the term shall also refer to the medical institutions and dental colleges established for that purpose.

(e) "Register book" shall mean the register book set up to register the names of doctors under this Act.< /p>

(f) means “registered medical practitioner”.It shall mean a doctor whose name is registered in the register book.

(Q1) “Accredited” shall mean recognized in accordance with this Act.

(G) “Registrar” shall mean appointed under section 12 shall mean the Registrar of the Council.

(h) “Rules” shall mean the rules made under this Act.

(i) “Regulations” shall mean the regulations made by the Council under this Act.

(j) “Prescribed” or “as prescribed” means prescribed or prescribed in the rules or regulations made under this Act.
