In this Act, unless the subject or subject indicates otherwise,-

(a)   “Untouchability and Discrimination” shall mean the act under section 4.

( b) "Offence" means an act under section 3. (c) "Public place" means a government or non-government office, educational or industrial establishment, ancient monument, pot, stream, well, Places of public purpose such as wells, ponds, squares, roads or paths, means of public transport, masanghats, gardens, any kind of religious places are meant and the term also refers to any other place where goods or services are sold and distributed publicly.

(d)   “public service” means a government or non-government office, public institution, transport, industrial or educational establishment, company, firm, shop, hotel, resort, lodge, restaurant, cafe, cinema hall or Dance hall shall mean dance hall and the term shall also refer to any service and facility for public use or use provided by any governmental or non-governmental body. Any type of religious, social or cultural ceremony such as worship, yagna, ritual, birth, naming, marriage, death etc. is meant. Or according to the decision or order of the relevant agency or official, it shall mean a person holding a position entitled to exercise any public authority or having to perform any duty or discharge an obligation, and the term shall also refer to an officer or employee holding any position of a public institution.

(g)   “Prescribed” or “as prescribed” means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
