Section 2
Definition
In this Act, unless the subject or context requires otherwise,-
(a) "Official" means the living or dead body of a wild animal or any part of its body in an identifiable condition and the term includes any substance of the body of a wild animal or any substance prepared from a mixture of such substances.
(b) "Inter-regional forest" means a national forest spread over more than one province, geographically and naturally connected and interconnected from the point of view of the ecological system.
(c) "Consumer group" means the consumer group formed as per section 31 for the protection, enhancement, management and utilization of forests.
(d) "Recognized forest" means a national forest managed under section 26.
(e) "Non-timber forest produce" means all other organic products including wood and firewood produced from trees in the forest or grown in the forest or outside the forest, and wild animals or the droppings of wild animals.
(f) "Tancha" means a mark or target made on wood or standing trees.
(g) "Divisional Forest Office" means the Divisional Forest Office under the State Government.
(h) "Divisional Forest Officer" means the head of the Divisional Forest Office appointed by the Government of Nepal in accordance with prevailing laws.
(h) "prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in rules made under this Act.
(h) "religious forest" means a national forest entrusted under section 28;
(k) "Private forest" shall mean a forest planted or protected on private land to which a person is entitled in accordance with the prevailing law.
(l) "State Forest Director" means the Head of the State Forest Directorate.
(d) National forest within the province” means the national forest within the respective province which is separate from the inter-provincial forest.
(l) "State Ministry" means the Ministry of the State Government dealing with forest matters.
(n) “MinistryThis" means the Ministry of Forests and Environment of the Government of Nepal.
(i) "National forest" means a forest managed by the Government, a protected area, a community forest, a shared forest, a religious forest, a confessional forest, a national forest or an inter-provincial forest within a State.
(h) "Forest" means an area wholly or partially covered with trees or shrubs.
(d) "Forest produce" means the following produce lying or obtained in or brought from a forest
(1) Timber yield
(2) Non-timber forest produce or
(3) Rock, soil, fluvial and mineral material.
(d) "Forest Conservation Area" means a Forest Conservation Area declared under section 15;
(N) "Forest Boundary Mark" means a wooden, stone, cement or any other material pole or signboard used to demarcate the boundaries of the National Forest, and the term also refers to the forest boundary mark marked on the map prepared after surveying the land in accordance with the prevailing law.
(p) "forest management system" means the system adopted for the management of national forests.
(f) "Forest area" means a forest bordered or unenclosed by a forest bordered by private ownership and except as otherwise provided by prevailing law, or grassland within a forest, covered with snow or not, bare mountain road, pond, lake, swamp, river, stream, stream bed or covered land. (b) "Environmental assessment" means brief environmental study, preliminary environmental assessment and environmental impact assessment to be carried out in accordance with prevailing law.
(b) "Environmental services" means the following services and benefits derived from the ecosystem of the forest area. (1) Carbon Service
(2) Conservation of biological diversity
(3) Watersheds and water cycle systems
(4) Tourism
(5) Other goods, services and benefits as specified.
(same) "Department" means the Department of Forests and Land Conservation under the Ministry.
(y) "Government managed forest" means under section 14 sThe national forest managed by Rakar should be mentioned.
(r) "Armed Forest Guard" means the Armed Forest Guards in various posts of the Armed Forest Guard Service constituted under section 46;
(l) "Partnership forest" means the national forest managed in partnership with the division forest office, local level and forest users as per section 23.
(f) "community forest" means a national forest handed over to a user group in accordance with section 18;
(h) Local level means rural municipality or municipality.
