In this Act, unless the subject or context requires otherwise, -

(a) “Commission” means the University Grants Commission established under section 3.

( b) "University" means a university established or to be established according to the prevailing law.

(c) "Chairman" means the chairman of the Commission.

(d) "Member" means means a member of the Commission and the word also refers to the Chairman and Member Secretary of the Commission.

(e) "Secretary" means the Secretary of the Commission.

(f) "appointed" or "Accordingly" shall mean as prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
