Section 4
Formation of Council

(1) The Nepal Legal Practitioners Council will have the following councilors:
(a) Attorney General of Nepal,
(b) President, Nepal Bar Association,
(c) The Registrar, Supreme Court,
(d) Dean, Faculty of Law, Tribhuvan University,
(e) Senior advocates practicing law in each province of Nepal and elected senior advocates or advocates of advocates and
(f) Two senior advocates or advocates nominated by the Nepal Bar Association.
(2) The President of the Attorney General Council of Nepal and the President of the Nepal Bar Association shall be the Vice President of the Council.
(3) The term of office of councilors elected under clause (e) of sub-section (1) will be five years and the term of office of councilors nominated under clause (f) will be two years.
(4) Only legal practitioners who have obtained a certificate as a legal practitioner and have worked in the legal profession for at least ten years will be eligible to be councilors under clauses (e) and (f) of sub-section (1).
(5) Until the councilors are elected under clause (e) of sub-section (1), the Nepal Bar Association may nominate seven legal professionals from the respective provinces as councilors for a maximum period of one year.
(6) In the absence of the President, the duties of the President shall be performed by the Vice President.
