Section 2
Puribhasha
In this Act, unless the subject or context indicates otherwise,-
(a) "authorisation" means a travel authorization issued under sub-section (2) of section 23;
(b) "carriage" means carriage of passengers or goods by rail;
(c) "carriage charge": means the charge levied on carriage of passengers or goods and the term includes any charge levied on loading, unloading or transfer of goods.
(d) 8 "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means as prescribed or prescribed in the rules or regulations made under this Act.
(e) "consignee" means the person named as consignee in the railway receipt;
(f) "Consignor" means the person named as the consignor in the railway receipt and that term includes the person who entrusts the goods to the board for carriage as consignor.
(g) "Board" means the Nepal Railway Board established under section 3.
(h) "Fare" means the amount of fare charged for providing railway services to passengers.
(i) "Fare and Charge (Tariff) Book" shall mean the Railway Fare and Charge (Tariff) Book as per section 14.
(h) "Ministry" means the Ministry of the Government of Nepal dealing with railway matters.
(k) "goods" means containers, pallets, animals or others; means any- cargo and that term also includes any similar means or mechanism used for transporting any animal or cargo together.
(Chhath) "Passenger" means a person traveling by train with a ticket or pass.
(d) "Passenger's baggage" means goods carried by a passenger in the course of a journey and the term also refers to a passenger's baggage registered and entrusted to the Board. (l) "Rail" means a public vehicle running on electricity with the help of a device and the term also includes Metro Rail and Mono Rail.
(n) "railway" means the movement of passengers;means a train or any part of a carriage or carriage of passengers or goods and the term also refers to the following objects, mechanisms, structures or means:-
(1) With railways: associated land, trees, boundary marks, walls,
(2) a leak or any part of such leak and the train, engine and all goods connected therewith running on such leak,
(3) 8 Sidings, yards and branches used for railway purposes,
(4) Machinery constructed for the supply and distribution of all kinds of electricity used for railway purposes,
(5) Rolling stock, stations, offices, warehouses, workshops, hospitals, security houses, factories, machinery and tools, roads and alleys, inspection rooms, public houses, fountains, water supply facilities, staff quarters, passenger houses constructed for the purpose of railways. Canteens, schools and other structures established for the families of employees, or
(6) Vehicles brought into use for railway/purpose on any road.
(s) "Railway Administrator" means the Railway Administrator appointed under section 56;
(h) "Railway Receipt" means a receipt issued by the Board after acceptance of the goods for carriage.
(d) "Railway station" means a place where trains stop and pick up passengers and goods;
(d) "delay fee" means the fee charged for keeping the goods after the expiry of the time given for keeping the goods at any place within the railway.
(n) "Description (Forwarding Note)" means the statement for the carriage of goods determined under section Ud.
(p) "Station Office" means the Station Office of the Board. (f) "Station Head" means an employee of the Board appointed to act as Head of Station Office.

Canteens, schools and other structures established for the families of employees, or
(6) Vehicles brought into use for railway/purpose on any road.
(s) "Railway Administrator" means the Railway Administrator appointed under section 56;
(h) "Railway Receipt" means a receipt issued by the Board after acceptance of the goods for carriage.
(d) "Railway station" means a place where trains stop and pick up passengers and goods;
(d) "delay fee" means the fee charged for keeping the goods after the expiry of the time given for keeping the goods at any place within the railway.
(n) "Description (Forwarding Note)" means the statement for the carriage of goods determined under section Ud.
(p) "Station Office" means the Station Office of the Board. (f) "Station Head" means an employee of the Board appointed to act as Head of Station Office.
