Rule 58
Maternity and maternity leave
(1) If a female soldier becomes pregnant, she will get ninety-eight days of maternity leave before and after delivery.
(2) Female military personnel who have taken maternity leave according to sub-rule (1) may take maternity leave without deduction for an additional six months if they wish. When taking such leave, it should be taken consecutively with the leave as per sub-rule (1).
(3) According to sub-rule (2), the period spent on leave will be added to the period of employment.
(4) If the wife of a male soldier is about to give birth, such a soldier will be entitled to take maternity care leave for fifteen days before and after the delivery.
(5) Military personnel will receive full pay while on maternity and maternity leave.
(6) Soldiers who have received maternity leave and maternity care leave will be given a child care allowance of five thousand rupees per person for a maximum of two children.
(7) Military personnel who have taken maternity care leave must submit the child's birth certificate to the office within three months from the date of taking leave.
(9) The period of such leave of a military person who does not submit such certificate within the period as per sub-rule (8) shall be deducted from the other leave he is entitled to.
