The work and duties of the authority will be as follows :-
(a) To recommend to the Government of Nepal to determine the long-term and short-term policy regarding electricity supply (A1) To supply electricity by generating, transmitting or distributing electricity in accordance with prevailing laws.
(b) Formulating plans for power generation, transmission and distribution systems and other related works and construction, operation, protection of power generation centers, transformation centers (substations), distribution centers, transmission and distribution lines and related facilities necessary for the implementation of the plans. To promote,
(c) For industrial and agricultural development and for the convenience of the people, to arrange the appropriate level of power generation, transmission and distribution in the economically useful areas,
(d) Determining service charges from the customer for meter connection, meter replacement, name change, capacity increase, etc., apart from electricity tariff. (e) Conducting necessary research work related to electricity generation, transmission and distribution,
(f) Conducting higher training and studies to prepare skilled manpower in electricity generation, transmission and distribution,
(F1) To provide technical advice and consultation related to power generation, transmission or distribution (G) To do other work necessary for the fulfillment of the purpose of the authority.
