Rule 31
Length of service required to be a candidate for promotion
(1) Military personnel who are candidates for promotion to officer level posts must have completed the following service period from the date of joining officer cadet training:-
(a) Two years for promotion to the rank of sub-commissioned officer,
(b) Six years for promotion to the rank of Commissary,
(c) Ten years for promotion to the rank of soldier,
(d) Sixteen years for promotion to the rank of Chief Soldier,
(e) Twenty-nine years for promotion to the rank of General (f) Twenty-one years for promotion to the post of Assistant Rathi,
(g) Twenty-three years for promotion to the above post,
(h) Twenty-four years for promotion to Rathi post.
(1a) Clause (a) of sub-rule (1) notwithstanding what is written in it, an authorized cadet who is commissioned after completing two years or more period of authorized cadet Beshik Talim Wapadik or Villadar officer cadet Talim or authorized base training of Sosarah, will be given a commission in sub-military rank immediately. In this way, the seniority of the officers who are on training abroad or who are in the position of assistant soldiers due to other reasons will be promoted on the same date.
(1b) According to sub-rule (1) of rule 5, sub-section (d) for promotion to the rank of assistant soldier, the chief suvedar or suvedar who has completed at least twenty years of service from the date of joining the military service will be candidates.
(2) A military person who is a candidate for promotion to the post of Padik and Villadar must have completed the following service period from the date of becoming a soldier:-
(a) Two years for promotion to the post of Puth,
(b) Four years for promotion to official post,
(c) Seven years for promotion to post,
(d) Nine years for promotion to the post of Jamdar,
(e) Eleven years for promotion to the post of Subedar,
(f) Fifteen years for promotion to the post of Chief Subedar.
(2a) In addition to the period of service written in sub-rule 2), a military person who is a candidate for promotion to the post of academician and badger must have completed one year of permanent service in the post below the post to be promoted.
(3) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (1), in the absence of a candidate who has completed the minimum service period, the minimum service period shall not be applicable for promotion to the post of assistant charioteer, assistant charioteer and charioteer.
