Rule 50
Approving Variation Order
After the work has been started according to the approved cost estimate, if it is necessary to further reduce the amount of such work due to technical reasons or to add or replace new items, the work can be carried out by approving the variation order as follows:-
(a) In cases where the drawing, design and specification etc. of the construction works do not need to be changed, but only the quantity of the work is increased or decreased, the secretary will issue a variation order up to ten percent of the contract price with sufficient technical proofs on the recommendation of the concerned officials. If it is necessary to reduce more than that, the technical proof should be submitted and approved by the district development committee (b) The district development committee prepares a revised estimate with technical confirmation and a variation order up to fifteen percent of the contract price due to the need to change the drawing, design and specification of the construction work,
(c) In the case of purchase of goods, consulting services and other services, the District Development Committee approves the variation order of up to fifteen percent of the contract price. (d) If more than fifteen percent of the contract price has to be varied, a new cost estimate will have to be prepared and work will be done through a separate procurement process.
