(1) After checking the ballot box according to Rule 27, the Election Officer shall count the votes.
(2) When counting votes according to sub-rule (1), in the case of rural municipality or municipality elections, the ballot boxes of each ward shall be counted separately.
(3) After the counting of votes has been completed according to sub-rule (1) or (2) according to sub-rule (3) of rule 27, the ballot shall be counted after reaching agreement regarding the ballot box found to be defective. If the agreement cannot be reached, the Commission should be informed and it should be done according to the Commission's instructions.
(4) While counting the votes according to this rule, the counting table as per Schedule-19 should be prepared.
(5) When preparing the vote counting table according to sub-rule (4), in the case of a rural municipality or municipality, a separate vote counting table must be prepared for each ward.
(6) According to the vote counting table of all the wards prepared according to sub-rule (5), a separate table shall be prepared based on the votes received by the chairman, vice-chairman, chief and deputy chief.
(7) After preparing the vote counting table according to sub-rule (4), (5) or (6), the election results shall be declared and published on the same basis as per schedule-20.
(8) The Election Officer shall immediately send a copy of the election results declared as per sub-rule (7) to the Commission.
(9) After announcing the election results, the election officer shall give the certificate as per schedule-21 to the elected candidate.
