The ballot paper shall be invalidated in the following cases:-
(a) Without the signature of the polling officer concerned,
(b) the vote is indicated by putting a finger print or by putting a mark or seal other than the mark or seal as per sub-section (3) of section 39,
(c) The vote symbol is defaced or torn so as not to be understood,
(d) Votes are indicated elsewhere without indicating the vote in the room with the candidate's election symbol or in the room with the party's election symbol,
(e) separate votes are marked in a room with election symbols of more than one candidate or party,
(f) in a room with election symbols of more than one candidate or party, votes are marked in such a way that the marks of the votes are marked,
(g) returned to the polling officer without marking the vote,
(h) vote not being indicated on the election symbol of any candidate or party,
(i) Voted by ballots other than those prescribed by the Commission,
(j) placed outside the ballot box,
(k) forged ballot papers, or
(l) Ballot papers determined to be void by the commission.
