Section 52
Conditions of invalidation of ballot paper
The ballot paper shall be invalidated in the following cases:-
(a) Without the signature of the polling officer concerned,
(b) vote is indicated by putting a fingerprint or by putting a seal or mark other than the seal or mark as per sub-section (3) of section 35,
(c) The vote symbol is defaced or torn so as not to be understood,
(d) A vote is indicated elsewhere without indicating the vote in the room bearing the name of the candidate,
(e) separate votes marked in a room containing the names of more than one candidate,
(f) votes are marked in such a way that there is a mark of vote in the room containing the name of more than one candidate,
(g) returned to the polling officer without marking the vote,
(h) No vote is marked in the room bearing the name of any candidate,
(i) Voted by ballots other than those prescribed by the Commission,
(j) placed outside the ballot box,
(k) Forged ballot papers,
(l) Ballot papers determined to be void by the commission.
