Rule 18
Scrutiny of nomination papers
(1) When the election officer examines the nomination papers according to section 19 of the Act, if any claim regarding the qualification of a candidate is raised in opposition in accordance with section 18 of the Act, he shall make a decision in that regard as well. If only one nomination paper is duly submitted, then the duly nominated nomination paper shall be maintained and if both nomination papers are duly submitted, one of the nomination papers shall be maintained according to the wishes of the concerned candidate or his representative, proposer or supporter. But in case such candidate or his representative, proposer or supporter is not present, the election The officer shall retain the previously registered nomination papers. (3) The examination of the nomination papers according to this rule shall be done in the presence of the candidate or his representative, proposer or supporter. or if his representative, proposer or supporter is not present, there will be no obstacle to check the nomination paper. (5) During the examination of the nomination paper, the nomination paper will not be invalidated only because of a small error in the nomination paper. Explanation: For the purpose of this sub-rule and sub-rule (2) of rule 30 "Minor mistake" means a technical or general error in letters, numbers or digits related to the writing or printing of the name, surname, age, nationality or serial number of a candidate, proposer, supporter, person related to him or voter in the voter list or nomination paper.
