Rule 153
Procedure for causing maintenance of goods

(1) If any goods in the local body needs to be repaired, the user of such goods should give written information to the head of that body. After receiving such information, he should prepare and approve the cost estimate as mentioned in this regulation.
(2) After the cost estimate is approved according to sub-rule (1), if the goods are repaired in a workshop or repair center, the repair of such goods should be done by such workshop or repair center. If any goods, equipment or spare parts need to be changed during such repair, such goods, equipment or spare parts should be taken from the stock and if not in the stock, they should be purchased in accordance with the procedure of the Procurement Act and this regulation.
(3) For the purchase of equipment or spare parts according to sub-rule (2), the local body shall register such goods or equipment and keep a record of the equipment or spare parts whose value per unit exceeds five thousand rupees and that such spare parts have been replaced for old equipment or spare parts. Old goods must be registered after being certified by the relevant technician.
(4) The local body which does not have its own workshop or repair center shall repair the goods by following the procedure of the Procurement Act and this regulation.
(5) Irrespective of what is written elsewhere, the agency having the workshop or repair center can approve the cost after the repair by keeping a record in the repair work record form (Job Card).
