Section 45
Voting can be postponed in special circumstances
(1) If the polling officer is convinced that rioting and other unusual circumstances occur in a polling station, or if the electronic equipment cannot be operated for any reason, or if the polling officer is convinced that polling cannot be done due to nuisance or natural calamity or any other reason beyond his control, he shall immediately suspend the polling operation of such polling station. The notice should be published at the same place.
(2) The polling officer shall immediately give notice of postponement of the polling according to sub-section (1) to the election officer.
(3) According to sub-section (1), the Election Officer shall immediately inform the Commission and the Chief Election Officer about the postponement of voting.
(4) After receiving the information as per sub-section (2), unless otherwise instructed by the Commission, the election officer shall immediately publish the notice in such polling station specifying the date and time of re-polling in such polling station.
