Rule 57
Special Sick Leave
(1) If a military person who has paid the accumulated home leave and sick leave is unable to go on sick leave for a long period of time due to a major illness, he can get special sick leave for a maximum of one year on the recommendation of the Medical Board as per Rule 107.
(2) According to sub-rule (1), a soldier who takes special sick leave consecutively will get full pay for the first three months and then half pay for the next six months. No further salary will be received.
(3) In accordance with sub-rule (1), if the medical board under rule 107 determines that he is unable to perform his duties despite being on special sick leave for one consecutive year, such soldier shall be released from service.
(4) Military personnel who are ill or injured while performing their duties and are being treated in a military hospital or any other hospital recognized by the Government of Nepal shall receive hospital sick leave with full pay until the illness or injury is cured. If the medical board as per rule 107 finds that the military person on such leave is unable to perform his duties even after recovery, such military person will be released from service.
(5) If there is a report that a military person is sick, a doctor can be appointed to check whether he is sick or not.
(6) The doctor assigned as per sub-rule (5) shall examine the patient and submit the report to the medical board as per rule 107.
(7) A soldier who is ill shall not be employed in government work unless the Medical Board as per Rule 107 gives the recommendation of the doctor assigned as per sub-rule (5) that he is fit to work. But if you can do administrative work, there will be no hindrance to do such work.
