(1) A Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council will be formed as follows for the protection and management of the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area:-
(a) Chairpersons of consumer committees within protected areas – members
(b) Women members representing mothers or women's groups in the committee, four members chosen from among themselves to represent one person from each village development committee. (c) One member from among the members representing the community forest user group in the committee (d) One representative of the District Development Committee representing the Village Development Committees within the conservation area - one member (e) One member appointed by the chairman from among the backward classes, castes or social workers within the committee. (f) one person nominated by the Chairman from among the persons within the conservation area who have made or have made significant contribution to conservation - Member
(2) The Council shall select one chairman, one member secretary and one treasurer from among the members of clauses (a), (b), (c) and (e) of sub-rule (1). The selection process will be as determined by the council itself.
(3) The council constituted as per sub-rule (1) shall submit an application to the department in the format as per schedule-3 for registration of the council.
(4) If an application is made according to sub-rule (1), the department shall conduct necessary investigation and if deemed appropriate to register the council, it shall register the council and issue a certificate in the format as per schedule-4.
