Rule 23
Punishment and other actions
(1) The Council shall take action against the doctor who violates the code of conduct mentioned in rule 22 and shall order the registrar to remove his name from the register.
(2) The council shall give the doctor an opportunity to present himself or by sending a lawyer to prove his innocence. But if the accused doctor does not come within the specified period or if he does not send a lawyer, a one-sided decision will be made.
(3) Other than the concerned doctor, his lawyer, members and employees of the council and the advisors on behalf of the council will not be allowed to attend the proceedings for punishment.
(4) The registrar will give notice of the decision to remove the name from the register to the concerned person, organization and office.
(5) According to section 17 (1) and section (20) of the Council Act, before removing the name of a registered medical practitioner from the register, he shall be given an opportunity to submit his opinion. But if you have been convicted by the final court in a criminal charge that appears morally corrupt, you should not be given such a chance.
