(1) If a vehicle is to be registered according to section 14, if such vehicle is purchased within Nepal, the person, firm or company or agent who purchases it, and if such vehicle is imported from abroad, the person, firm, company or agent who imports the vehicle, the customs of that vehicle. The application should be submitted to the authorized officer along with the fee payment slip and other related documents along with the prescribed receipt in the prescribed format. But the registration fee will not be charged to register a vehicle with diplomatic facilities.
(2) The person making the application according to sub-section (1) must attach a certified copy of the Nepali citizenship and three recent passport size photographs of himself with the application.
(3) In the case of government vehicles, the vehicle which is registered in the name of a government office, and in the case of vehicles with diplomatic facilities, a letter of recommendation from the Government of Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must also be attached. If the vehicle with diplomatic facilities is registered in the name of a person, he must attach a copy of his passport or citizenship and three copies of passport size photos.
(4) If a foreign citizen residing in Nepal for any business or work transaction wants to register a vehicle for his private use, in addition to the things written in sub-section (1) and (2), he must also attach a letter of recommendation from the relevant diplomatic mission.
(5) If a vehicle has to be registered in the name of a minor, his guardian should submit the application by attaching three passport size photos of the minor and himself as well as a certified copy of the citizenship.
