In this Act, if the subject or context does not require otherwise,-
(a) "Vehicle" means a vehicle propelled by mechanical power on the road.
(b) "Weight of the vehicle" means the gross weight of the vehicle. Explanation: "Gross Weight" means the vehicle's engine, chassis, other tools and equipment including the gross weight bearing capacity of the vehicle written in the vehicle registration certificate.
(c) "Large vehicle" shall mean the vehicle as per clause 3.
(d) "Medium vehicle" shall mean the vehicle as per section 4.
(e) "small vehicle" means a vehicle as per section 5.
(f) "Public vehicle" means a vehicle used in transportation services.
(g) "Transportation service" means the act of transporting passengers or goods from one place to another by public vehicle.
(h) "Fare" means the amount or fee charged for providing transportation services by public vehicles.
(i) "Tourist vehicle" means vehicle as per section 7.
(j) "Private vehicle" means a vehicle as per section 8.
(k) "Government vehicle" shall mean the vehicle as per section 9.
(l) "Vehicle of the Institute" shall mean the vehicle as per section 10.
(d) "Vehicle receiving diplomatic facilities" shall mean a vehicle as per Section 11.
(d) "Passenger" means a person traveling by public transport.
(n) "Goods" means animals, birds and any inanimate object transported in public vehicles, except for humans.
(p) "Passenger-carrying vehicle" means a public vehicle that provides transportation services to passengers.
(h) "Freight vehicle" means a public vehicle used for transporting goods.
(D) "Certificate of Registration" means the vehicle registration certificate issued after registering the vehicle in accordance with section 16.
(d) "Driver" means a person holding a driver's license.
(n) "Driver's Licence" means a license granted under section 50Must remember the driver's license issued by .
(p) "Driver" means a person who has obtained a driver's license as per section 67 and the term also refers to other checkers and helpers working in that vehicle.
(f) "Security personnel" means the personnel responsible for the safety of passengers, goods and vehicles.
(b) "Public place" means a public road, belt, street, river, bridge, road or a place where the general public comes, goes, sits and the term also refers to a place designated for boarding, alighting or parking of passengers.
(b) "Parking place" means a designated place for parking.
(i) "Bus stop" means a designated place for passengers to board and alight for the purpose of traveling in a public vehicle carrying passengers.
(y) "Road" means a road designated for driving public vehicles.
(r) "long route" means the route from the place of departure to the destination of a distance of two hundred and fifty kilometers or more.
(l) "Medium route" means the route from the place of departure to the destination of a distance of more than one hundred kilometers but not less than two hundred and fifty kilometers.
(v) "short route" means the route from the place of departure to the destination of a distance of twenty-five kilometers to one hundred kilometers.
(h) "Local route" means the route from the place of departure for the journey to the place of destination of a minimum distance of twenty five kilometers.
(f) "Road Licence" means a license obtained under Section 77 to drive a vehicle on an approved road.
(c) "Inspection pass" means a certificate issued after testing the mechanical condition of a public vehicle.
(h) "Insurance" means the insurance to be carried out by the owner or manager of the vehicle in relation to the vehicle, passenger, goods, driver, operator, security personnel, other employees working on the vehicle and third parties and the term shall includeIt also refers to the comprehensive insurance on the bond.
(k) "Owner of vehicle" means the person, firm, company or any other organized organization written as the owner of that vehicle in the vehicle registration certificate.
(f) "Manager" means the person responsible for the orderly operation of public vehicles involved in registered transport services.
(Gya) "Traveller's luggage" means goods for personal purposes that the traveler takes with him when traveling.
(1) "Traffic signal" means a notice, sign or gesture given by the police or a vehicle driver to the driver of another vehicle and the term also refers to any information sign or sign that is affixed, placed or installed in written or symbolic form for the control or direction of the vehicle.< br> (Gya 2) "Pollution" means noise and smoke pollution from vehicles.
(Gya 3) "Department" means Government of Nepal, Ministry of Construction and Transport, Transport Management Department.
(Gya 4) "authorized officer" means the head of the transport management office.
(Gy5) "Management Committee" means the Transport Management Committee constituted as per section 154.
(Gya 6) "Examination Committee" means the Examination Committee constituted as per Section 156.
(Gya 7) "Traffic Inspector" means a person appointed as per section 157.
(Gya 8) "Training center" means a vehicle driver training center recognized by the department as per section 159.
(Gya 9) "Area" means the designated area under the provincial jurisdiction of the Transport Management Office.
(G.10) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" shall mean as prescribed or prescribed in this Act or the rules made under this Act or in the notified order issued by publishing a notice in the Nepal Gazette.
