Rule 12

(1) According to section 12 of the Act, if the personal or biological details mentioned in the identity card need to be corrected or added, the concerned person should submit an application to the department or local authority in the format as per Schedule-7.
(2) If there is a need to update the personal or social details of the person who received the identity card, the concerned person should submit an application to the department or local authority in the format as per schedule-8 along with the proof.
(3) In accordance with sub-rule (1) and (2), the local officer should send the application to the department.
(4) Upon examining the application received under sub-rules (1), (2) and (3), if it is found appropriate to correct or update such details, the department may correct or update the personal or physical details in the National Identity Management Information System. (5) If the details on the visible part of the identity card are changed while correcting or updating the details according to sub-rule (4), then a copy of the identity card shall be issued after correcting or updating such details by drawing the complete identity card.
(6) In accordance with sub-rule (5), when issuing a copy of the identity card, it shall be issued only after updating the biological details of such person.
