: In this Act, unless the subject or the context otherwise requires,-
(a) "Hospital" shall mean a hospital established under section 16.
(b) "Hospital Management Committee" shall mean the Hospital Management Committee constituted as per Section 17.
(c) "Vice-Chancellor" shall mean the Vice-Chancellor as per Section 20.
(d) "Executive Council" means the Executive Council constituted as per Section 11.
(e) "Chancellor" means the Chancellor as per Section 18.
(f) "Selection Committee" shall mean the Selection Committee constituted as per Section 13.
(g) "Dean" means Dean as per Section 23.
(h) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
(i) "Director" means the director as per section 24.
(j) “backward areas” means the districts of Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Calikot, Jumla, Jajarkot, Bajura, Bajhang and Achham.
(k) "Establishment" means the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences established as per section 3.
(l) "Academic Council" means the Academic Council constituted as per Section 9.
(d) "Registrar" means the Registrar as per section 22.
(l) "Teacher" means a person appointed to teach and research in the institution.
(n) "Principal" means the Principal as per section 21.
(p) "Educational Institution" means an educational institution established in accordance with Section 15.
(h) "Assembly" means the assembly constituted as per section 7.
(d) "Vice-Chancellor" means the Vice-Chancellor as per section 19.
